1,000-piece Puzzle, 999 pieces

By November 15, 2013Acceptance

I sat at the MEC reunion last night and just looked across a room of stories. So many stories. It was funny because I see most of these people regularly. It was as if we were all little puzzle pieces who individually held a tidbit of information, but when they assemble in that room, it was only then that you saw the big picture of how great those times were.

It became that “remember when we ________” moment. I can say, without reservation, that everybody in that room would consider themselves lucky to have been a part of something that is unlikely to happen again in our lives. The industry wasn’t mature, and we weren’t mature, and so we accomplished even greater things because we weren’t afraid or didn’t know any better.

I looked across that room, and it sparked so many little thoughts and memories that it hit home again—how much I really miss David, how much we miss David. He was, for the most part, an integral part of the memory. I couldn’t even begin to try to recall some of the particulars. There are just too many.

The puzzle was almost perfect, but for me I was missing one piece last night.
